Ken Berg

A native of the Virginia / North Carolina region, Ken Berg graduated from Samford
University in Birmingham, Alabama with a BME in 1977 and an MME in 1981. For 28
years he was the Director of Choirs and Fine Arts Chairman at John Carroll Catholic
High School in Birmingham before retiring in 2005 to become the Music Minister and
Composer in Residence at Mountain Brook Baptist Church. In 2011, Ken retired from
church work to become the 1st full-time Music Director of the Birmingham Boys Choir,
having been part time with them since 1978. (www.birminghamboyschoir.com) He
and his wife, Susan are the proud parents of two sons, Michael and David; both fine
musicians in their own right! Ken has served as a State and Southern Division officer
with the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) and has also served on the
Training Courses Committee of the Royal School of Church Music in America. In
addition to touring extensively throughout Europe, Japan and North America, his
choirs have sung at ACDA, OAKE and MENC State, Division and National
Conventions.
Ken often serves as clinician and adjudicator throughout the U.S.

Heather Potter

Heather Williams Potter is an Associate Conductor with the Charlotte Children’s
Choir where she conducts Lyric Choir, the upper intermediate choir in the children’s
division. She also serves as the Director of Youth and Children’s Music at First Associate
Reformed Presbyterian Church in Gastonia, North Carolina. As an active clinician,
Dr. Potter frequently conducts treble ensembles for music conferences, festivals, and
honor
choirs and presents children’s choir training workshops. She serves on the Choristers
Guild National Board and the advisory board for the Choristers Guild Institute and is the
ACDA Southern Division R&S Chair for Children and Youth Community Choirs. Dr. Potter
holds degrees in music education and choral conducting from Furman University, Arizona
State University, and The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. In addition, she has completed Level III in the Choral Music Experience certification course and holds Choristers
Guild Children’s Choir Leadership certification. Dr. Potter is a member of ACDA, Choristers
Guild, and Music Educators National Conference (MENC). She lives in Charlotte,
North Carolina, with her husband, Kenney, and their daughter, Syl.
