Mentoring
What is Mentoring?
MENTOR: An experienced teacher who formally agrees to lend assistance to a
beginning teacher and enters into a helping relationship. GMEA's assigned Mentors are
expected to make initial contact with their Mentees and assist as needed.
Visitations are not required, but are certainly recommended.
MENTEE: A teacher with little or no experience, under contract with a school
district. GMEA includes teachers with three years or less experience and
teachers new to Georgia.
