Organizers, Kerry Bryant & Kathy Bizarth

KERRY BRYANT 

Kerry Bryant is a native of Louisville, KY. He has degrees in Music Education from the University of Kentucky (BME, 1985), University of South Carolina (MME, 1993), and Lincoln Memorial University (Ed.S., Administration and Supervision, 2005). His 19-year career in music education has included band directing at Riverdale (GA) HS, Irmo (SC) HS, Forest Park (GA) HS, Jonesboro (GA) HS, and Winder-Barrow (GA) HS.

Bands under his direction have received various performance invitations to numerous college band clinics, including the Universities of Georgia, Florida State, South Carolina, and Southern Mississippi. He has extensive experience as a guest conductor, clinician, arranger/composer and adjudicator. He has had arrangements published with Arrangers Publishing Company and Schirmer Rental at various times. His bands have also performed at the Georgia Music Educators Association In-Service Conference two times, the Music Educators National Conference Southern Division Conference, Bands of America, and numerous commercial non-invitational festivals and contests.

He is currently the Acting Director for the Northeast Georgia Arts and Convention Center, as well as the Fine Arts Coordinator for the Barrow County Schools in Winder, GA.

His professional activities have included serving as Band Division Chair, All-state Jazz Chair, Future Music Educators Colloquium, and various other district offices for the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA). He has served as state president of the National Band Association, Georgia chapter, and various other appointments and offices for a variety of arts organizations.

Mr. Bryant is a charter member of Tara Winds, a member of Phi Beta Mu Honorary Bandmasters, and was named an honorary member of Kappa Kappa Psi. He has been awarded the National Band Association’s Citation of Excellence four times. He maintains an active schedule of music performance judging and clinician engagements throughout the southeast.

Mr. Bryant is married to Kelly Bryant, a flutist in the Atlanta Opera Orchestra, and an Executive Board member for the American Federation of Musicians union, Atlanta Local 148-462. Mr. and Mrs. Bryant have two children: Jack, age 9, and Helen, age 6. Both are honor students in the Barrow County School System. The Bryant family lives in Statham, GA.
