GMEA Research in Music Education and College Division is pleased to announce the call for proposals for spoken and poster research presentations at the Georgia Music Educators Association Conference. Research studies exemplifying qualitative, quantitative, philosophical and historical methodologies will be considered for this session. Submissions of “Graduate Research” and “Action Research” completed by music educators in their classroom/rehearsal hall are also encouraged.
Proposals for Sessions and the Poster Research Presentations are now being accepted. The deadline to apply is October 14th.

An Analysis of Impostor Phenomenon in Early-Career Music Educators
The purpose of this study is to examine the prevalence and intensity of Impostor Phenomenon (IP) within elementary and secondary music educators with five or fewer years of creditable teaching experience, hereafter referred to as “early-career” music educators, as well as identify potential commonalities and predictors for these individuals, such as, but not limited to: race, gender, community type, content area, identity and personality traits, and impacts from parents’ child-rearing practices.

The purpose of the study is to research prior service military musicians and their use of military resilience training in civilian life as band directors. The primary goal is to try to identify key resilience strategies that promote career satisfaction and longevity in band directing to support band directors during each phase of their careers. Survey deadline is 8/15/2025.
